SDDM doesn't open wayland session

I have a system with hyprland, Plasma(wayland) and Plasma(X11). Whenever I try to open either of the wayland sessions, the screen goes black for a second and then prompts me again for the password. When I open the X11 session, I can't use any of the applications I have on my computer, not even a terminal.

Please ask for any other logs or info for diagnosis

What hardware? Post a complete journal after running into such an issue (you should be able to switch VT with Ctrl+Alt+F2...9 and co) post the links you get from

sudo journalctl -b | curl -F 'file=@-' 0x0.st
curl -F 'file=@-' 0x0.st < /var/log/Xorg.0.log

Re: SDDM doesn't open wayland session

Also yes people reported success with Hyprland + Greeter setup, but this is not the intented way to run Hyprland, you are supposed to run Hyprland in a tty session not in a Greeter as the Greeter + Hyprland setup is officially unsupported by the Hyprland developers by running: hyprland

Note that: without the --i-am-really-stupid flag (yes this is a real flag), Hyprland does not run in root

However you are free to go with any of the setup,

Also do please add the logs to either the main post or reply with the logs in which case, people can help you after you bring logs in

Re: SDDM doesn't open wayland session

The problem is that if I enter the tty, and try to run any commands, it tells me zsh: sudo not found

Re: SDDM doesn't open wayland session

you can also post that output from a root shell (or substitute sudo with any other form of privilege escalation) if need be, which instructions did you follow to install Arch? And on the off chance the above is correct, you are not trying to log in as a root user do you?

If that also happens with a graphical tty console emulator (which I think should be the case) then I would either reinstall manually or reinstall using archinstall although it is your choice

If it does this error when you run any commands in the tty session,

This could explain your sddm not running hyprland Wayland session, although I could be wrong and if I am wrong,

Then it is because I thought SDDM or any other greeters in general runs commands in their own tty session in which also uses some more commands to run the DE/WM with the login details you give to the Greeter

That's what I got

Reinstall Arch just because they don't have sudo installed? Really?

Why  use a grenade to clear the room when you can just detonate a nuclear bomb and clear all the rooms? lol
