Hi everyone,
Wednesday there was a WOW update. I was able to connect to my battle.net via Lutris without any problems, but it was impossible to install the wow update :
An error has occurred while writing a file
.
I tried to mount a snapshot from a week ago with my brtfs-grub... without any results.
So, i uninstalled WOW and battle.net, and... i wasn't able to reinstall battle.net. When I get to the binary installation phase, after choosing the language/path, and before the login window, it systematically blocked at 86% with an "Oops! How awful... a mistake "... I tried many times until i waited a while, and, after the error, and for some reason, the installation was completed. Since, battle.net well starts with Lutris (similar behavior can be obtained by going through Steam runtime/Adding a non-steam game/battle.exe, but without the same final success than lutris). Then, i tried to reinstall WOW and... i still got this error :
An error has occurred while writing a file
.
I tried to change permissions on dirs but I think I read that lutris intervenes in root mode anyway.
I tried to roll-bak with the previous nvidia-lts/utils drivers (these two packages seem to be able to cause certain similar errors and/or identical behaviours), without any success...
So I deleted my OS and reinstalled it :
- Arch Linux base image (the latest available on mirror list
On my computer :
- Tuf gaming B760-PLUS, intel i7 12th, nvme, RTX 4060 Ti
I used the requested drivers (nvidia-lts/utils), the recommended libs (list in the WOW Lutris github page), for the... same error... And the same difficulty to install battle.net (a problem I'd never had before).
So I decided to give it a try :
- i've just finished installing EndeavourOS in place of my arch base installation.
Still on the same hardware, still with the same packages (wine-staging, nvidia-lts/utils, proton9), and still with the same error...
sudo journalctl -p 0..2 -b
et
sudo dmesg | grep -E 'error|failed'
returns only minor problems (keyboard key mapping, monitor returned and misinterpreted, etc.).
lutris -d
doen't help...
lutris-0.5.18
wine-9.22 (Staging)
local/nvidia-lts 1:565.77-10
local/nvidia-utils 565.77-3
local/lib32-nvidia-utils 565.77-1
Any idea ?

Well, i do not know why but some Proton versions don't work anymore...
Sometime i had to use the specific GEProton9.22 version and sometimes the 9.22staging version...
But it works... The reason why, on another hand...
