backspace key on Gnome's OSK not working in Brave Browser

Running: Gnome on wayland

Gnome's virtual keyboard's backspace button doesn't work when using Brave browser.

journalctl:

Arch-Linux gnome-shell[698]: Need keyval or commitString

The backspace button on the OSK works fine in firefox and gnome-terminal. I checked Brave's shortcut list to see if there was any <backspace> key used and didn't see it being used as a shortcut.
