Hello everyone,
I come to you because I have an hdmi and usb adapter, I have only one hdmi on my laptop and I want to connect my two screens via the adapter.
On the official website https://www.synaptics.com/products/disp … ads/ubuntu they don't support arch but only ubuntu but I've found repositories that are compatible with arch https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/displaylink in particular.
So I installed the whole thing but alas it doesn't work, when I plug in the adapter at best nothing happens, at worst I get a black screen with a flashing white dash but I can't access anything, I have to turn the PC off using the button.
I installed these packages:
evdi 1.14.8-1
displaylink 6.1-1
On reboot when I plug in the adapter the screen goes blank for a few seconds, then one of my screens lights up (black screen all the same) then my interface switches to logs with this message in a loop
janv. 26 16:14:59 archlinux kernel: new 0000:01:00.0: PCIe Bus Error: severity=Correctable, type=Data Link Layer, (Receiver ID)
Jan 26 16:14:59 archlinux kernel: new 0000:01:00.0: device [10de:25a2] error status/mask=00000040/0000a000
If this is a problem with nouveau do you know if installing the proprietary driver will fix the problem? Thanks in advance
EDIT : I installed nvdia's proprietary drivers but that didn't change anything.
evdi looks correctly installed
sudo dkms status
evdi/1.14.4, 6.6.72-1-lts, x86_64: installed
Problem solved, I reinstalled the whole thing and tried with only one hdmi connected instead of two at the same time (one hdmi connected to the base socket integrated into the pc, the other to the adapter) and it works! You never know, it might come in handy for others!
