I am new to ARCH and have run into an error with pacman [solved]

Pacman is throwing out warnings that nearly all installed packages are newer than core when running "sudo pacman -Syu" I am unsure as to what would have caused this, i have rebuilt the mirror list and run -Syyu and -Syy multiple times

so running reflector im getting timeout errors

however when i put that url into a browser i have no issues downloading the associated file

The simple and short answer: there are two possible problems with upgrading and installing packages. Either you have a server which is not available, dump the quuestionable mirrors: a mirror can be fast while reflector is ranking it while not being stable because other loads get priroity on that server at some times or just because the the server is not online all the time. These servers are run by volunteers so that is fine, just maintain your mirror-list. The 2nd possible cause: you have a database which keeps track of which packages are avaiable on the server, you need to refresh that database when the server refreshes its packages. You can easily prevent this problem by upgrading with -Syu and installing packages with -Sy. The y-flag syncs your database and then everything is fine.
