I installed steam with pacman but when I run it, it doesn't start and this is what I get:
steam.sh[186144]: Running Steam on arch rolling 64-bit
steam.sh[186144]: STEAM_RUNTIME is enabled automatically
setup.sh[186217]: Steam runtime environment up-to-date!
/home/code_lyoko/.local/share/Steam/ubuntu12_32/steam-runtime/run.sh: line 85: steam-runtime-identify-library-abi: command not found
run.sh[186230]: steam-runtime-identify-library-abi --ldconfig-paths failed, falling back to ldconfig
steam.sh[186144]: Couldn't find /home/code_lyoko/.local/share/Steam/ubuntu12_32/steam-runtime/amd64/usr/bin/srt-logger, logging to console-linux.txt
steam.sh[186144]: Can't find 'steam-runtime-check-requirements', continuing anyway

with more lines after but I believe the errors are here, with steam-runtime-identify-library-abi.

https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Steam#Installation
Make sure an en_US.UTF-8 locale is generated.
Offline
It is
Offline
Is it?
locale -a
, the Addfile command that's apparently the last thing you're seeing is usually an indicator of that not being the case, other than that potentially missing some 32bit dep, I'd generally reccommend you install steam-native-runtime even if not using the native launcher to get a baseline of potentially necessary 32bit libs

This is the output of locale -a :
C
C.utf8
en_US.utf8
fi_FI.utf8
fr_FR.utf8
POSIX
And I also installed steam-native-runtime

And I also installed steam-native-runtime
dont - just use multilib/steam - it should pull in all dependencies (given you've installed arch correctly following the wiki guide)
Offline
Well I did follow the guide. And I saw that the error I get was because of lib32-glibc before ( https://www.reddit.com/r/archlinux/comm … glibc2393/ ) but it is supposedly fixed now.
Offline
Is that the entirety of output you get? Try a
steam --reset
Offline
glibc is at 2.40
but yea - sometimes the sledgehammer is a good idea just like on windows: removing everything from but the executeable and games and let it fix itself
Offline
it says
/home/code_lyoko/.local/share/Steam/steam.sh: line 554: no match: ssfn*
and then it launches just like above (so it doesn't launch but try to and fail)
Offline
Btw this is the entire output if you want :
steam.sh[6036]: Running Steam on arch rolling 64-bit
steam.sh[6036]: STEAM_RUNTIME is enabled automatically
setup.sh[6109]: Steam runtime environment up-to-date!

What's your environment? If anything wayland based, xorg-xwayland installed and started?
Also because these libs it doesn't find isn't normal, I'd suggest you remove your entire .local/share/Steam make sure the package from the repos is alright
pacman -Qikk steam
and retry.

Oh god okay I was convinced I installed xwayland already but I think I got confused because the wiki page said that my compositor enabled it by default and did not realize I still needed to install it lol
Thank you it's working now, I feel so stupid now

Right -- we would've probably arrived at that sooner if we had the full output from the start... please for future posts, don't filter on what you think is relevant if more context is actually present.
please mark as [SOLVED] by editing the title in your first post.
