Davinci resolve not recognising video (using Fedora distrobox)

trying to get davinci resolve to work on arch
wasnt working, every time i opened it, it immediately crashed
went to this video for solution: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wmRiZQ9IZfc
using fedora distrobox

can get davinci resolve to open
can get a new project to open
.mp3 files, .jpg files, etc. all work

however, .mp4 files dont work
they just show up as blank audio files

put this in davinci resolve forums too, but im not sure where else to post
cheers <3

Re: Davinci resolve not recognising video (using Fedora distrobox)

Please don't post large images, see https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Genera … s_and_code .

The author of the video may be the only one that can help you .

Are you willing to setup DR following https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/DaVinci_Resolve ?

If not, we can't help you and this thread will be moved to dustbin.

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.

clean chroot building not flexible enough ?

Mod note: Moving to AUR Issues for now.

Please also clarify where Arch Linux fits into this. Are you running Davinci Resolve in an Arch Linux container running on a Fedora host? Or are  you running Davinci Resolve on a Fedora container on an Arch Linux host?

Re: Davinci resolve not recognising video (using Fedora distrobox)

DaVinci Resolve free under Linux, does not support decoding/encoding of H.264, or H.265 codecs.

See details here:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/DaVinc … AC_Support

You have some options.  You can either pay for DaVinci Resolve Studio to gain that support, or you can convert H.264 / H.265 media to a supported codec before importing.

See supported codecs here (scroll down for Linux):
