Hello everybody. This is my first post on the forum.
I'm trying to install Arch for the first time on an Acer Aspire ES-15. The install itself goes fine right up until grub-install and the system freezes. Only the power button has any effect. I had the same issue while installing Siduction on it a year or so ago. My HP Elitebook also did the same thing. The Acer is a test bed. Install arch for the first time and get used to it then install it on the HP. I've seen mention that Acer, Asus, some Hp's can have some flaky firmware so maybe this is the issue. I did get Siduction running on both systems but had to copy grub and boot files to the correct folders. This doesn't seem to be the case here.
While searching for solutions, I came across a howto to write uefi entries with efibootmgr. I tried it and the system froze solid. I assume this is what's happening when grub-install. I don't understand what would cause the freeze? When I examine the uefi entries it lists the usb drive with the live system, the cd/dvd drive and the network. There is no mention of the Hard drive with the installed system.
Does anyone have a recommendation of the next step to get arch installed?

That was the solution however I forgot to grub-mkconfig but once I did the laptop booted into Arch just fine. Thanks again!
