Forgive me, first post and still digging...
vala-panel-appmenu doesn't work with xfce out of AUR at the moment.
The release in the main line of ValaPanel resolves this https://gitlab.com/vala-panel-project/v … el-appmenu
Package Details: appmenu-gtk-module-git 24.02-2
Submitter: rilian
Maintainer: rilian
Last Packager: rilian

Where do update requests go for AUR... should I just message the maintainer or is there a submission system here somewhere?
Thanks,
Robert

https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/vala-panel-appmenu is up to date, but you seem to have an incompatible older appmenu-gtk-git installed. If you don't want to use that get rid of appmenu-gtk-module-git and properly install the current version from the repos appmenu-gtk-module (if you install that directly it should prompt the uninstallation of the -git package)
While this isn't the case here, if it was necessary - which it isn't, this is an issue on your system - you could create an AUR account which allows you to flag a package as out of date which will notify the maintainer.
Mod note: Moving to AUR issues..
