kdenlive 24.12.2-1 audio stops working after a while

The issue has been reported on the KDE support forums as well and has been isolated to be related to Arch (i.e. using the AppImage the issue doesn't show up).

In certain conditions (e.g. when switching back and forth from the editing tab), the audio stops working and I can see on the console the error:

MLT: "[consumer sdl2_audio ] SDL failed to open audio"

I am using PipeWire so I wonder if this is related at all, also no idea whether the build process does anything special too mess up the audio like that.

Thanks for any input

Re: kdenlive 24.12.2-1 audio stops working after a while

Most likely a regression in sdl2-compat, there are quite some issues/differences in how it handles audio that seems to have lead to a bunch of issues, but the devs are on it. https://github.com/libsdl-org/sdl2-compat/issues/276

Afaik there are some audio related fixes in the current git tree so you could try sdl3-git and sdl2-compat-git. Or if you want to wait for things to stabilize, opt for the "real" sdl2 from the AUR
