joystick configuration / support requested

noticed other users not having any luck for quite some time getting a joystick to work

Off to using Peanut and Slackware, no hard feelings but I need my CD to burn, PDA and scanner to connect and arch won't do it.

Re: joystick configuration / support requested

here is what I do under slackware / peanut / vector

nedit /etc/rc.d/rc.modules
----
#and place this below section header
### Joystick support ###

/sbin/modprobe joydev
/sbin/modprobe emu10k1
/sbin/modprobe emu10k1-gp
# next line is your joystick make, grip is for gravis ...
/sbin/modprobe grip
/sbin/modprobe interact

--
#chmod 666 /dev/input/js0
#chown root /dev/input/js0

for devfs  I add this but still no go.

edit /etc/modules.conf

add and

alias /dev/js* joysticks
alias  /dev/joysticks  joystick

Re: joystick configuration / support requested

i got my gamepad working fine, it is a USB gamepad from gamefactory, pretty cheap. All i did was modprobe joydev, and done, i know have /dev/js0. You need hotplug and usb kernel modules. Some of the stuff i have gotten working with ir are: xmms(using joystick plugin), mplayer (i recompiled 1.0pre1 with joystick support), zsnes and gltron. If there are any games people recommend playing with a joystick,  please tell me.

Re: joystick configuration / support requested

If anyone cares, I just bought a USB adapter that let you use two playstation controllers on your PC. It's mega sweet. Shows up as:

input: WiseGroup.,Ltd TigerGame PS/PS2 Game Controller Adapter as /class/input/input4
input: USB HID v1.00 Joystick [WiseGroup.,Ltd TigerGame PS/PS2 Game Controller Adapter] on usb-0000:00:1d.0-1
