[SOLVED] Nvidia GPU not being detected even after installing drivers

Hello, i recently downloaded arch and installed all the required packages for the drivers to work but they are not working .

The packages that i installed were - nvidia-open, nvidia-settings , nvidia utils and lib32-nvidia-utils.
I used this repo : https://github.com/korvahannu/arch-nvid … tion-guide as a reference alongside the arch wiki and followed it step  by step. After doing that i ran a command and it's output was :

I want my nvidia gpu to be detected and used and not the integrated gpu as i want to use my gpu for playing games and for ricing my setup.

The guide you followed may work on systems with only an nvidia graphics card but not for systems with an integrated GPU AND a nvidia card.
It also has bad advise like running yay -Syu instead of pacman -Syu .

Your nvidia card is detected but doesn't function as a standalone graphics card .
It uses the integrated gpu and screens connected to that for output .

The general name for such a setup is 'hybrid graphics' . Nvidia calls this an Optimus system.

It requires some special setup, start with reading https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/NVIDIA_Optimus


Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.

clean chroot building not flexible enough ?
Try clean chroot manager by graysky

So i did check out the wiki and i did install the nvidia prime package and made the required adjustments . i got this output after running this command

i did try nvidia optimus manager too but it gave me this output :

$ optimus-manager --switch [nvidia]

ERROR: a GPU setup was initiated but Xorg post-start hook did not run.

Don't install optimus-manager. Yes according to the prime-run outputs everything is in order and working correctly. You'll want to start things you want on the nvidia gpu with prime-run. You generally don't want to run the rest of the session that the iGPU is sufficient for on the nvidia gpu. These systems are designed for the two GPUs to work with each other, there's no point in invoking the nvidia GPU if you're not going to use it for a workload that requires it. In the case of Steam everything that uses Proton has built-in code that will automatically use the nvidia GPU, for linux native games, edit the launch options and add

prime-run %command%
