Have Arch installed for about a week. Installed with archinstall and selected pipewire as the audio system and xfce4 for desktop.
When trying a youtube video I realized I had no volume controls so installed the PulseAudio Plugin for panel.
However, it is acting strange, the volume icon in the systray is 'pulsing' constantly as if something was producing output or changing volume and the notification chicklet in the top right is popping up every few seconds.
If I change the plugin notification settings to "Input Only" then only the systray icon is pulsing. 'All' and 'Output only' show both the icon pulsing and the notifications.
For now, I turned off the notifications for the plugin but still the systray icon is pulsing constantly which is a little distracting.
Any ideas why could this be happening?

Had a look at the audio mixer and this what it shows:
There are two devices shown:
GP104 High Definition Audio Controller
Port: HDMI / DisplayPort (plugged in)
Built-in Audio Analog Stereo
Port: Line Out (plugged in)
I am physically using line out on my old monitor since it doesn't support hdmi audio.
Built-in Audio Analog Stereo has two options in the Port drop-down menu:
Headphone (unplugged)
Line Out (plugged in)
This lower Port section of the dialog box, is switching between Line Out (plugged in) and Headphones (unplugged) constantly as it displays.

Ok, all good now.
installed rtkit
copied /etc/pulse/client.conf to ~/.config/pulse/
set volume for both headphones and monitor to same value
disabled hdmi sound source with pavucontrol
