Hi fam, this is yet another post about touchpad issues.
im in a thinkpad x1 carbon gen8, i know this is a more or less popular laptop in the linux community.
I'm in a semi fresh install and I noticed that my touchpad wasn't working when I was settin' up my login manager. this isn't the first time I use Arch in this device but this had never happened to me before, the touchpad worked out of the box the last time i used this distro like 2 or 3 years ago, and the trackpoint works perfectly, strange enough... I did "libinput list-devices" and there is no sign of the touchpad.
i found in an old entry in this forum that another user solved this problem in a similar model (newer generation) by moving to the lts kernel, so i did and it didnt worked. i also found in linux mint forums that adding "i8042.nopnp=1 pci=nocrs" to the kernel command-line parameters in file /etc/default/grub. solved this problem in other lenovo devices so i did it as well but it did not work as well. and finally, tried using ubuntu in the live environment and the touchpad worked perfectly there. so i dont know if i'm missing some kernel modules on my Arch linux system or what is making the difference. any advice will be deeply appreciated. thanks in advance <3
