Hi there, I'm about to install Arch using this quick install guide: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Qui … troduction
The only question I really have is how big should I make my swap partition? I've heard it should be 1.5x your memory? So with 1GB memory I should make it a 1.5GB swap partition, does this sound ok?
Many thanks.
edit: also, which image should I be grabbing? arch-0.7.2-base.iso or arch-0.7.2.iso? I want as much control over whats installed as possible, but then again I don't want it to be too complicated to get GNOME up and running.

I've also heard double your memory. Right now, I'm installed on a 10gig partition so I wanted to save space and made my swap space the same size as memory. Works fine.

Some opinions (the 'right one' doesn't exist) regarding swap: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?t=27483
The ISO you should get: ftp://ftp.archlinux.org/other/0.8/i686/ … 6-i686.iso
