Downloading steam games too slow

The problem occurred recently but I don't know exactly when. I have also read around that many people have the same problem and that it might be mirror related.
The fact is that game downloads from steam are very slow despite the fact that I have a very fast network.

If you are on ethernet, check your trasmission speed. I have gigabit but after i noticed slow steam downloads i checked my speeds and for some reason my NIC negotiated a 100 connection instead of a 1000 connection
