Hello i updated my system today and when i tried to open gimp, it took 2-3 mins to boot into the program
I did restart my system mutiple times but the issue still persists
I even tried removing the .config and .cache files of gimp and gegl too
I don't know what else i can do now
I tried to find a report about this on gimp's gitlab page and i couldn't find it
This is the closest issue i could find
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gimp/-/issues/12848
Please help ;_;

My first start of GIMP 3 also took a while. I guess it's migrating stuff… But that was only the first time. Now it starts normally. Do you have lots of plugins?

Try using both flatpak and appimage. For me on KDE and Xorg, appimage gives no problems.

You could also run gimp in a virtual machine…
Check the system journal for some xdg-portal errors and in doubt "strace -f -tt -o /tmp/gimp.strace gimp" to see where it stalls, but on several minutes delay (and assuming the gtk2 version wasn't affected) this smells like socket timeouts which would hint at a larger problem of a system misconfiguration.
