External Mic Jack not detected

Hello, I have this 13 year old laptop which begins to have some issues with its hardware.

It has a built-in microphone that worked as expected to record video calls and the like. Not a problem.
All detected and managed throu Alsa (no pulseaudio in this machine, I do not like it).

A few months ago the mic stopped recording, only noise, and I am pretty sure is a hardware problem. I was not in a hurry, so I did not check the external
jack until now. I have some low end mics and i tried to plug them, and use them, and I guess they are not detected. I get exactly the same noice that my
built-in microphone records, so i guess that is still the one used.

I also saw that in Alsamixer I do not seem to have something akin to a "headset" bar, as in the Output section. And the "aplay -L" info command doesn't seem to mention
anything like a external jack.
Here is the output:

Re: External Mic Jack not detected

Check your mixers with amixer -c0 whether you can set some toggle for the external mic.

Most often this isn't directly possible, what you can try instead is use some differing hda models, e.g. /etc/modprobe.d/sndhdamodels.conf

options snd-hda-intel model=dell_headset_multi

and reboot, if that didn't work try some of the oder models listed in: https://docs.kernel.org/sound/hd-audio/ … 6x-67x-892
