Adaptive Sync Issue - (VRR with AMD FreeSync NVIDIA GPU) Black Screen

Hello, I have been having this issue for quite a long while, I thought the 570 drivers would fix it, but they did not sadly.
I have a GTX 1660 Super, I am using KDE Plasma 6.3 on Wayland and my monitor is the ViewSonic XG2405.

This is a very odd problem, that doesn't seem to happen in Windows:
after throughly testing, Adaptive Sync works until my monitor turns off that is set in KDE, then after I wake up the monitor, it starts having issues when I go into fullscreen apps with Adaptive Sync on, it turns off and on and turns into a black screen with no input until I alt-tab out of said program. It seems that changing the monitor from 144hz to 120hz, then back to 144hz fixes the problem temporarily until the monitor goes to sleep/turns off again.

Would appreciate any ideas or help on this, it's really bothersome and I don't know what's meant to fix it at this point.

While I do not have more information at hand, perhaps this can help? https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Variable_refresh_rate

I think I might have the same issue. noticed it when I was taking regional screenshot with spectacle. my screen turns black.
the solution seems to just disable adaptive sync completely. toggling it to "always" made it really bad for me.
