Desktop Environment: KDE Plasma
Filemanager: Dolphin
& my system is up to date.
so here's the issue:
I am unable to use the option "Open terminal here" in file manager. After clicking it, nothing happens.
This is happening since I changed my terminal from "Konsole" to "Alacritty".
I tried other terminals, I tried to switching back to Konsole again. Even tried other file managers, none of them worked.
I have already checked in system settings, if my default terminal is selected (yes, it is)
so how do i fix it? anyone please?
(I had no idea what information should i mention to make it helpful to solve this problem. so ask for it in case you need any additional information.)
Thank You.

I switched back to 'Konsole'. First it didn't work but after some time it worked. Now I am able to open terminal by clicking 'Open terminal here'. But it only works for Konsole, idk why? Anyway, I am ok with it. ig, i'll be using Konsole for rest of my life.

try to start dolphin in the terminal of your choice and see if there is an error message while trying to open a different terminal emulator

Changing the default terminal in "settings, default applications" works for me.
A restart of Dolphin is required.

Oh, Ok. Actually, I never used forum things before so, I thought, it's done by forum moderator or somebody else.
But, issue still persist with other Terminals. So should it be considered as "Solved"?

You mean, open Dolphin using terminal, by entering 'dolphin' in terminal, right? ig this is what you mean. I did that, it opens normally without any error.

yeah, i already tried setting default terminal. It didn't work. I don't know how to restart dolphin, but I have already tried installing other file managers & also tried reinstalling dolphin, so isn't it kind of restart thing?

restart dolphin = close dolphin and open it again.
Did you try to open dolphin in the terminal and did you look for errors?

I tried restarting dolphin. Even I killed dolphin from Task Manger, but it didn't worked.
As you asked to open dolphin from terminal, I am still confused what you actually mean. I suppose you mean to type, "dolphin" in terminal & hit Enter.
So I did exactly like that in Konsole, there dolphin opens normally without any error. Then I tried to open it in Alacritty, there also it opens normally, BUT gives an error or something like that. Here it is...
[harsh@Arch ~]$ dolphin
QGestureManager::deliverEvent: could not find the target for gesture

After running it in the terminal, did you try to use the "Open terminal here" function? I am hoping for an error message with a hint in the terminal.
Nevertheless, can you show the output of
cat ~/.config/kdeglobals | grep Terminal
This is the file that the system settings should modify when changing the default terminal.

Yes, I tried "Open terminal here" function and it didn't work.
Also, I tried the command you asked me to run. The output was just blank.
[harsh@Arch ~]$ cat ~/.config/kdeglobals | grep Terminal
[harsh@Arch ~]$
btw Thank you for your response.

Does the ~/.config/kdeglobals file exist? If so the "cat ~/.config/kdeglobals | grep Terminal" command will produce no output if the default terminal is "konsole".
Change the default in "systemsettings" and try again. If it's still not there try inserting the following under the "general" section.
TerminalApplication=Your terminal choice (is it installed)
TerminalService=Your terminal.
Certainly works here of different PC's and different OS's.

I had the same issue, fixed by clicking on another terminal in Default Applications, clicking apply, then clicking the terminal you want and clicking apply again.
