fluxbox anti aliased fonts

Hey all,

I'm trying to find out how to change the size of the fonts and the buttons in fluxbox when you turn on antialiasing.

eg: the dash square and x in the top right end up becoming huge.
      the fonts are too big.

when i try to adjust the fonts size in the style file.. it has no affect.

anyone know how to adjust these settings?! Not critical but i thought i'd ask.  wink

I bought a dog the other day...I named him Stay. It's fun to call him...  "Come here, Stay! Come here, Stay!" He went insane. Now he just ignores me and drools.

Re: fluxbox anti aliased fonts

have you tried the xfthack? a.k.a. smoothxft?
you can find it with google. It replaces one file with a prebuild-xft version

Re: fluxbox anti aliased fonts

Sorry man, i'm not quite sure I follow you. Fluxbox has it's own antialiasing. I don't need an xft hack. My question was about changing the font sizes for fluxbox once antialiasing is enabled.

Re: fluxbox anti aliased fonts

Has anyone figured this out?

I'd be interested, too.

It seems that my 'local.conf' in /etc/fonts/ ensures that my Bitstream Vera fonts get used, .... but how do I adjust their size?

Hmmm, ... wondering if this has to do with the XFT defaults somewhere(!?).

Re: fluxbox anti aliased fonts

run fluxbox -info and see if XFT is enabled.

If its not you need to rebuild (or redownload) the package

Personally I'm haing problems building fluxbox 0.9.6 with XFT enabled through abs.... don't know why... looking into it.

Re: fluxbox anti aliased fonts

and whoops to answer your question:

*font: Arial

becomes

*font: Arial:size=10

that is if Arial-10 does not work
there are numerous options that can be thrown after the : for freetype based ttf fonts, however size is the most common.
