recording problem

Hello!
I have a problem while sound recording... I tried a lot of programs to record sound, etc. audacity, ardour and a few for windows through wine...
And all of them have 1 problem: When I record something, I hear what I recorded, but with beeeeeeeeep in background....
Someone with any idea?
Thx.

Re: recording problem

This card uses the hda-intel alsa driver, and I think it uses the Realtek ALC861 codec. You can check this by looking at the Chip: line in alsamixer.

One thing you can try is to use some different model parameters when loading the snd-hda-intel module:

(From Documentation/sound/alsa/ALSA-Configuration.txt in the kernel source.)

        ALC861/660
          3stack        3-jack
          3stack-dig    3-jack with SPDIF I/O
          6stack-dig    6-jack with SPDIF I/O
          3stack-660    3-jack (for ALC660)
          uniwill-m31   Uniwill M31 laptop
          auto          auto-config reading BIOS (default)

First remove the module. You might have to exit kde or whatever you use and do this from the console, since the sound modules often are in use by sound servers etc.

rmmod snd-hda-intel

and reload it with eg.

modprobe snd-hda-intel model=3stack

or any of the other.

Another parameter that often is useful for hda-intel chips, when they make clicking or sparking sound when playing, is position_fix. I don't really think it will help for your problem, but it's worth a try:

modprobe snd-hda-intel position_fix=1 ( 2 or 3)

If nothing of this works, you can try it again with the latest alsa drivers:

http://www.alsa-project.org/alsa/ftp/dr … c2.tar.bz2

If you have the kernel source installed (in arch that is standard), it's easy to install this:

./configure --with-cards=hda-intel
make
make install (as root)

reboot (or unload all sound modules and reload snd-hda-intel).
