Play sound at boot with plymouth

Maybe this is a slightly ridiculous request, but I want to play audio during boot with plymouth. I know that it's possible to set for example the background image, but can audio also be played during the boot screen?

I'm aware this probably isn't a functionality that exists in any reasonable way, so if anyone has any ideas for how I can hack it together, please let me know.

You wouldn't be able to hack it together without changing the way the system does it's boot process. Plymouth boots up long before any sound system is booted up.

grub seems to have a command that can play a tune at boot .

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.
