hi
working with archlinux-2025.04.01-x86_64.iso transfered to USB-stick. system boot from USB and load airootfs.sfs smooth on a lenovo v15 G4. with a installed w11. my intension is to install ArchLinux in parallel. most logic is to add an entry to UEFI for Archlinux using /sbin/efibootmgr.
first call show up all entries of UEFI configuration created by w11.
i added ArchLinux tree to EFI.
then add <efibootmgr -c -d /dev/nvme0n1 -p1 -L ArchLinux -l '\EFI\ArchLinux\boot\syslx64.efi'>
then set correct boot order <efibootmgr -b 0002 -o 0000,2003,2004,0002
finaly list entries again and verify ArchLinux entry.
systemctl poweroff
boot from USB disk again and verify efibootmgr again >> all changes are missing.
efibootmgr never show any error messages.
i'm now interested in possible causes for this missbehavior.
thank you for help

i got deeper into UEFI and saw new developements mainly are for UEFI for microsoft puposes. so microsoft is about or is already dominating the verry hardware base.
so i lost interest on having dual boot configuration. everytime you boot msft OS you might have a messed up UEFI configuration thereafter.
i get the big broom and brush of this dominant rubish.
my futured solution is no INTEL and hardware without OS.

Very little of this is related to MS but a shody UEFI implementation of whatever your MB/laptop vendor is. A lot of properly implemented UEFI firmwares are not going to have this issue.
