[SOLVED] I created fork of AUR package. Is this okay?

REVISION:
Hello, good April everyone,

I created a AUR package of qspectrumanalyzer-git (AUR) with few line fixes as [Project discontinued] because the original author hasn't worked or accepted pull requests since 2017 which is concerning.

At first I was going to use GitHub but decided instead to use my own web server. I made sure to use a sha256 to ensure integrity.

After pushing I'm worried about if this is okay in entirety?

Best of wishes.

Hello, and thanks for the contribution.

Qspectrumanalyzer is licensed under GNU/GPL v3.0, so you have a right to create a fork of that project. Those are two of your essential freedoms (as granted by GNU).

As for submitting it to AUR: this seems like an actual fork, distinct from the original,⁽¹⁾ so I believe it’s in line with AUR submission guidelines.
____
⁽¹⁾ In opposition to a hypothetical scenario, where somebody makes a “fork” with a different name merely to circumvent the no-duplicates policy.

Sometimes I seem a bit harsh — don’t get offended too easily!
