I use ungoogled chromium based on the AUR. After a recent update, it no longer starts.

/usr/lib/chromium/chromium: error while loading shared libraries: libxml2.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
libxml2 is already installed on my system and reinstalling it via pacman did not solve the issue. How can I help ungoogled-chromium find libxml2?

As always, things outside of the repos are your responsibility to rebuild when they need to be. Your current build is linked against an old version of that lib.

Mod note: moving to AUR Issues.

Thank you for your reply. Does that mean that I have to downgrade libxml2 to match the version Ungoogled Chromium expects?

No, that will break any packages that have already been rebuilt against the new library.

You should rebuild ungoogled-chromium.

I think installing libxml2-2.9 2.9.10-1 should also resolve your issue.

Provides: libxml2, libxml2.so
DON'T!
https://archlinux.org/packages/extra/x8 … l2-legacy/ but the proper (albeit tedious) appraoch is to rebuild chromium.
