Can't scan with the hplip drivers

I have an old HP Deskjet 3050 printer/scanner. Whenever I try to hp-scan I get the following error:

Reading data: [*************************************************************************************] 100%  25.6 MB   
Read 25.6 MB from scanner.
Closing device.
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/bin/hp-scan", line 1673, in <module>
    im = imageprocessing.resize_to_scan_area(im,PAGE_SIZES[size],res)
                                                           ^^^^
NameError: name 'size' is not defined

The driver is on version 1:3.25.2-1. Downgrading to 1:3.24.4-3 works fine.

Outputting to destination 'file':

Done.
