Not sure if plymouth is working properly...

Hi,
I've installed plymouth-git from AUR and added plymouth to the hooks array in mkinitcpio.conf:

HOOKS=(base udev plymouth autodetect microcode modconf keyboard keymap consolefont block encrypt filesystems fsck)

I can see plymouth working after restart but it doesn't look correct to me.
After I select kernel in grub, I can see this text on screen:

Loading Linux linux-zen ...
Loading initial ramdisk ...

Then, after 15 sec, I can finally see plymouth. Why is it happening? Is plymouth starting too late? Or is it grub2 loading kernel for so long and there is nothing can be done? How can I find out?
Kernel parameters:

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="cryptdevice=UUID=9539e4f4-4f55-44a3-ac62-15530ff7fd91:system quiet splash"

Also, before switching to SDDM my screen turns black and then blinks few times, is it expected? I know that only GDM supports smooth transition out of the box, but this transition looks really ugly.
