I would like to Install Arch over an existing Linux OS using the guided installer 'archinstall'.
I am running dual-boot on a Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon Gen 8 with Windows 10.
These are the existing partitions as listed by fdisk.
Device Start End Sectors Size Type
/dev/nvme0n1p1 2048 534527 532480 260M EFI System
/dev/nvme0n1p2 534528 567295 32768 16M Microsoft reserved
/dev/nvme0n1p3 567296 1461487615 1460920320 696.6G Microsoft basic data
/dev/nvme0n1p4 1998360576 2000408575 2048000 1000M Windows recovery environment
/dev/nvme0n1p5 1461489664 1998360575 536870912 256G Linux filesystem
Partition '/dev/nvme0n1p5' is where I want to install Arch. Is this possible? I don't know how to specify in the partitioning step.
Any advice or hints would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Leo

Had you read this ? https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Dual_b … stallation
Not sure if you can do it with the install script. I never use it. But there are the guidelines to make the dual boot possible.

archinstall supposingly has an option to re-use an existing partition table - and at least a recent adjacent bug: https://github.com/archlinux/archinstall/issues/3348 - so have backups.
You'll have to learn the stuff in the installation guide anyway at some point. Making it "while installing the system" will prevent you from creating more problems that you then also have to fix.
