Resolutions above 4k require HDMI 2.1 or later.

The HDMI Forum that owns the HDMI spec has forbidden AMD to support HDMI 2.1 in opensource drivers.
This includes the amdgpu kernel module on linux which is used by ALL amd linux drivers.

Intel support HDMI 2.1 by creating a DP signal that is converted to HDMI in hardware, nvidia uses a closed firmware level driver.
AMD does not have a working solution.

Use DisplayPort instead of HDMI, DP doesn't have those restrictions and works great on amd cards.

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.
