Re: Another Happy Archer

He seems pleased with it, but i dunno if i'd call that a review of any kind. It doesn't really address anything specific about the distro other than displaying a couple quotes off the website.

Re: Another Happy Archer

My article was more to introduce ArchLinux to other Linux users that seem to overlook it..... like I did wink  It was NOT meant as a review, but more as a prodding stick to get people to try it wink

Re: Another Happy Archer

I think this is the right place to say I'm a new and happy arch user too big_smile I've used many linux distro's in the past. Where redhat was my first, ubuntu the latest and debian the one I liked the most. I liked debian because it begins with a small base install and then it's possible to build the system to your own needs.

Now arch does the same, but easier than Debian and it has newer versions of the applications. Also I find pacman easier to use too. Overall I'm impressed with Arch linux and for me it feels like how Linux is supposed to be.

For example: I've built a small setup from scratch in a few hours yesterday. First build the base, upgrade the base, install X and some software for testing. Everything was easy to setup and was well documented in the wiki. When I had a small problem with an USB mouse and some keyboard lockup problems I got excellent help in the IRC channel.

What I'm trying to say here, Arch is a great distro for making your own linux system. Choose the modules and build the system you like.

Sorry for my rambling, but I just felt like sharing lol

Re: Another Happy Archer

Nice post, IMO. I was not familiar with usalug.org and will have to check the site out as well.

Why, why, why is Arch overlooked so often?
