Hi, I am trying to set up hibernation on my laptop, but its not working.
I have btrfs,@swap and /swap/swapfile. But after waking up the session has not been restored...Please any help.

# MODULES
# The following modules are loaded before any boot hooks are
# run. Advanced users may wish to specify all system modules
# in this array. For instance:
#     MODULES=(usbhid xhci_hcd)
MODULES=(btrfs nvidia nvidia_modeset nvidia_uvm nvidia_drm)

# BINARIES
# This setting includes any additional binaries a given user may
# wish into the CPIO image. This is run last, so it may be used to
# override the actual binaries included by a given hook
# BINARIES are dependency parsed, so you may safely ignore libraries
BINARIES=(/usr/bin/btrfs)

# FILES
# This setting is similar to BINARIES above, however, files are added
# as-is and are not parsed in any way. This is useful for config files.

# HOOKS
# This is the most important setting in this file. The HOOKS control the

# Order is important, and it is recommended that you do not change the

# help on a given hook.
# 'base' is _required_ unless you know precisely what you are doing.
# 'udev' is _required_ in order to automatically load modules
# 'filesystems' is _required_ unless you specify your fs modules in MODULES
# Examples:
## This setup specifies all modules in the MODULES setting above.
## No RAID, lvm2, or encrypted root is needed.
#    HOOKS=(base)
#
## This setup will autodetect all modules for your system and should
## work as a sane default
# HOOKS=(base udev autodetect modconf block filesystems fsck)
#
## This setup will generate a 'full' image which supports most systems.
##   No autodetection is done.
# HOOKS=(base udev modconf block filesystems fsck)
#
## This setup assembles a mdadm array with an encrypted root file system.
## Note: See 'mkinitcpio -H mdadm_udev' for more information on RAID devices.
# HOOKS=(base udev modconf keyboard keymap consolefont block mdadm_udev encrypt filesystems fsck)
#
## This setup loads an lvm2 volume group.
# HOOKS=(base udev modconf block lvm2 filesystems fsck)
#
## This will create a systemd based initramfs which loads an encrypted root filesystem.
# HOOKS=(base systemd autodetect modconf kms keyboard sd-vconsole sd-encrypt block filesystems fsck)

Re: [SOLVED]Hibernation not working

Please use code tags, that is horrible to read.

Did you follow The wiki when creating the swap file to the letter?

But after waking up the session has not been restored...Please any help.

What actually happens when you try to resume?

EDIT: Also, what's in /proc/cmdline?

Re: [SOLVED]Hibernation not working

Sorry for long code.
1. Yes, I try several time to follow wiki.
2. New session with no programs running  .

EDIT: Also, what's in /proc/cmdline

Re: [SOLVED]Hibernation not working

Don't be sorry, please fix it.
Then please post your complete system journal for the boot:

sudo journalctl -b | curl -F 'file=@-' 0x0.st

after failing to resume from hibernation.
Ceterum censeo: is there a parallel windows installation?

Re: [SOLVED]Hibernation not working

I forgot to run mkinitcpio -P after adding the resume hook just yesterday.

I did sudo journalctl -b | curl -F 'file=@-' 0x0.st  and I got  curl: (6) Could not resolve host: 0x0.st .

Yes, I have win11 on the same nvme.

Re: [SOLVED]Hibernation not working

3rd link below. Mandatory.
Disable it (it's NOT the BIOS setting!) and reboot windows and linux twice for voodo reasons.

"Could not resolve host: 0x0.st"
So you've no internet connection??

I stopped the early loading, and only used kernal parameter `nvidia_drm.modeset=1`

That's the crucial bit, you'll have to remove the nvidia modules from the initramfs ( or disable the VRAM preservation - https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/NVIDIA … er_suspend )

Thanks, now the hibernation when I click on button in plasma works well. How to enable suspend-then-hibernate when I close the laptop, in kde "Laptop Lid Close Action" chose this option ,but when I close laptop is working and not going in suspend.

[Sleep]
AllowSuspend=yes
AllowHibernation=yes
AllowSuspendThenHibernate=yes
AllowHybridSleep=yes
SuspendState=mem standby freeze
HibernateMode=platform shutdown
#MemorySleepMode=
HibernateDelaySec=2h
HibernateOnACPower=yes
SuspendEstimationSec=60min

Re: [SOLVED]Hibernation not working

Please use [code][/code] tags. Edit your post in this regard.

Also please don't create omnibus threads, open a new thread for the plasma configuration issue.
Generally https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Power_ … CPI_events but plasma/powerdevil will inhibit those events and you'll have to configure it and i don't even know what kind of config you posted there.

Thank you  again for debug my hibernation. I'll try to open another issue.

Re: [SOLVED]Hibernation not working

Please always remember to mark resolved threads by editing your initial posts subject - so others will know that there's no task left, but maybe a solution to find.
Thanks.
