Udev problem

hello , i need help !!!!

I have built a arch linux cd in vmware with 0.8 base and make a live cd with linux live scripts. I added xorg 7.1 and gnome. In vmware the live cd works great without any errors ( ok , one error , but this is a know error of the live scripts ).
But when I test it on my notebook , every time on boot process , it crashed in a glichy display when he load udev events. When i disable udev in rc.conf the live cd runs.
Any solution for this problem ? I think it can be a error with pcmcia.. my slax cd hangs on boot , if i didn't disable with nopcmcia.

Neeed heeelp

Re: Udev problem

yes , but it hasn't squashfs with lzma , and they didn't can make a live cd from my current system.
And has its the same modular feature like slax ?

Anybody knows a solution ? I think that its not a fault by the scripts , because in Vmware and virtual box it runs without errors. Maybe pcmcia errors .. slax hangs my pc... any idea do disable pcmcia autoload of udev ?

( I use udev 103 , I forgotten it in my frist post )

Re: Udev problem

You could try adding the modules you don't your LiveCD to use to MOD_BLACKLIST=() in rc.conf, e.g.

MOD_BLACKLIST=(pcspkr pcmcia pcmcia_core)

No warranty that this works, though..

Re: Udev problem

I have found the prblem , but no solution ... if I have modules autoload on my arch hangs , when I disable it , it runs perfectly .. but some devices aren't loaded... I hope it helps the arch professionals to help me with this problem.  wink

Re: Udev problem

so... I found the problem. Its not pcmcia , its the nvidiafb module which kills my system. I have a question . Is nvidiafb needed to use nv driver in xorg ?

Re: Udev problem

Just out of curiosity: Why do you use kernel 2.6.18.3 and not a certain kind of 2.6.19 Arch kernel?

Re: Udev problem

its a own kernel with lzma squash. At the moment I test the new MeoW kernel 2.6.20-rc5. I don't know how stable it is. What do you think , 2.6.20 for MeoW 3.0 ?

I don't use the arch kernel because the lzma patches work only with the new 2.6.20 kernel  :x

ps : this is the slax kernel 2.6.18.3
