[SOLVED] need to reinstall grub to regenerate uefi boot menu?

Every time I update my uefi-bios firmware for an update my Arch boot entry gets erased from the boot menu.
I also boot Windows 11 on this PC and a Windows boot option apparently gets repopulated into the boot menu after a firmware update, but not an entry for the grub bootloader.
To repopulate the grub entry I re-install grub - is there an easier way or is that it?
Thanks

well, not "easier" but more direct: use efibootmgr to just re-add the entry
but it's correct what you get: a flash usually wipes the nvram - as for why windows is foubd auto: likely because the uefi is actively searching for it

also: only update uefi if required or you benefit from it otherwise
