Hello,
I got a two systems. One Windows-Laptop for work and my main archlinux desktop maschine. Sometimes I got both system running at the same time and I switch between them with my monitor (Dell u2722de) which has a build in kvm. My windows work laptop is connected via usb-c and my main device via displayport.
My problem is, that if I switch between the maschines I got no signal anymore on the archlinux maschine.
I found this thread which was solved by using DP instead of HDMI, but I am doing that already..
https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=269822
Any other ideas how I could solve this problem?

Can you switch the VT and get an output?
Can you there login and run "kscreen-doctor"?
What's likely happening is that the output unregisters, kscreen removes it and then doesn't automatically re-enable it when it shows up. I'd tell you to just disable the kscreen daemon but afaiu that's not possible on wayland.
But maybe you can configure a shortcut or add a udev rule to automatically enable it.
https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Udev#E … _unplugged - the example is for X11, you'll have to use kscreen-doctor to enable it.
Online
I cant get a VT sadly.
I just rechecked and tested the output switch from a TTY2 and from SDDM, both were able to recover the signal. I cant even ssh into the maschine from my laptop to run `kscreen-doctor`..
The udev rule states thats its meant to be used for unplugging, but that works fine. Than the maschine is actually able to recover the signal.. What could be the difference between changing the source and unplugging?
Offline
I cant even ssh into the maschine from my laptop
Does it respond to "ping"? Does the system also suspend/hibernate? This doesn't seem so much a problem w/ the output/kvm if the system isn't responding at all anymore.
Online
It does not even respond to a ping, but I sshed into the maschine before switchting the input source of my monitor and got some logs with dmesg right now.
Does this help at all?

Edit:
Ok after some more testing I tried the same with X11 and it worked flawlessly. I kinda assumed it was a system fault because it didnt work either with hyprland, but that used wayland as well. Anything I can do to make this work?
The `[ 9411.213872] snd_hda_codec_hdmi hdaudioC0D0: HDMI: Unknown ELD version 0` line was also present with x11 so I dont think thats the root cause.

Do you know how to disable (automatic) DPMS on your display server?
At least the kernel warning points there and it might make sense that the display server tries to send a non-exsting output to sleep and stumbles into a amdgpu bug
Does this also happen w/ the LTS kernel?
Online
I do not know how I can disable DPMS on wayland sadly.
With the LTS-kernel it the input source switch works, kwin_wayland crashes. This is the bug report.
Application: KWin (kwin_wayland), signal: Segmentation fault

Debuginfod has been disabled.
To make this setting permanent, add 'set debuginfod enabled off' to .gdbinit.

For KDE and DPM look in the power management settings in systemsettings, nevertheless, the amdgpu kernel module crash (taking down the kernel completely?) seems a pretty severe regression.
The warning isn't new: https://bugzilla.kernel.org/buglist.cgi … _bandwidth but apparently the introductional commit got reverted.
Do you also get it on the LTS kernel?
Online
Today I could not recover the session after a source switch even with the LTS-Kernel, but the I was still able to stay connected to the system. So it did not crash completely. Before I checked the power management settings and set turn off screen to `Never`.
After that I removed every USB-Device from the monitor and even a daisy-chained display (I am sorry that I didn't mention this) and it worked like a charm (on LTS and stable) The switch everything. After that I only reconnected the daisy-chained display switched again. The kernel crashed again. So now I found the root of the problem, but I still dont know how to fix it.
