MATE desktop window list plugin - Does not apply custom icon themes

I have an icon theme (Obsidian) set on MATE desktop 1.28.2. The icon theme has custom icons for various applications, however a vast majority of them do not show up in the window list. They seem to only show up on the first window generated by the application, which is usually not the one that ends up being the one used for the application itself, and so the application ends up defaulting to whatever the developers set it as, making it look out of place on my desktop. I do *not* want this.
Is there a way to make the plugin properly respect the icon theme I have set?
