Opera Page Load Times

Howdy,

I was just wondering if there is anything I can do to speed up the load times of pages within Opera.  When I first put in a URL, Opera takes 15-20 seconds just sitting there.  If I hover the mouse over it, I get an hourglass on the cursor, so I assume it's trying to do something.  Then all of a sudden it loads in the page.  The symptoms feel very similar to what happens in Firefox if IPv6 is not disabled through about:config.  I have looked for a similar setting within Opera, but have not been able to find it.  Thanks in advance.

Re: Opera Page Load Times

I would try changing the DNS in /etc/resolve.conf

I'm not sure how that would help.  If I load the same pages within Epiphany or Bon Echo (after disabling ipv6) they load extremely fast.

Although, the point may be moot.  The reason for my testing of Opera was due to the current Firefox, Bon Echo in Arch, not being recognized by my financial institution.  Opera seems to not be supported either.  So it would appear that I am going to have to find some other way to do my internet banking.  Well, I guess that is another reason to have a dual boot system.

Thanks for the help.

Re: Opera Page Load Times

You may still be able to use Opera. You can right-click on a webpage and goto Edit Site Prefs > Network and choose from several browser idents including IE. I use Opera with Arch but don't have the speed issues you have mentioned.

You can also check out IEs for Linux.

Put "alias net-pf-10 off" in /etc/modprobe.conf and reboot.

Doesn't appear to have corrected the issue.  Thanks.

Are you running under Beryl?  Opera was doing something like that for me when running under Beryl...

I don't have such problems, but have you looked in opera:config?
Which version of opera do you use?
