NetworkManager VPN support

Hi all,

I've uploaded a couple PKGBUILDs to AUR adding VPN support to NetworkManager: networkmanager-openvpn-cvs & networkmanager-vpnc-cvs

so far they appear to work with the gnome manager, but the KDE manager doesn't see the managed connections unless run as root (they can be added/removed, but they don't show up in the 'VPN connections' menu).  Any help would be appreciated.

If they're well received and I manage to fix the bug with knetworkmanager I might contribute a pptp PKGBUILD as well.

Re: NetworkManager VPN support

I think the current version of knetworkmanager has no "real" support for vpn. It just calls gnome-networkmanager. (which did not work well for me, too) Perhaps future versions will handle this better; you might ask val about this.

Re: NetworkManager VPN support

Yeah, the VPN interfaces are gtk2, so knetworkmanager does have limited support.  However at least the configurations are listed when you run it as root :-)  I'm running into a misconfiguration or bug, not a limitation...

Re: NetworkManager VPN support

Do you have a pkgbuild for using gnome network manager w/ pptp?

Thanks a lot!

Re: NetworkManager VPN support

nope... you could PKGBUILDs as a base, though.  I don't have the time right now to do any maintenance on them.

Note that you might have to take --without-gnome out of the configure flags.
