[solved] network connection issues

Recently, I have had an issue where my internet connection will randomly cut and then re-activate itself. looking into previous forum posts, it seems as though the most common cause of the issue is multiple networks services active at the same time. I do have both network manager and iwd downloaded, but iwd is not active and systemd tells me that it does not run on startup.

Re: [solved] network connection issues

Can you disable the automatic startup of spotify?

And?

The log you provided shows Network Manager starting in about 14 seconds, followed by a systemd coredump when Spotify tries to start.

If that is not the problem, then perhaps a complete log of a boot showing Network Manager connecting and disconnecting?

Cheers,

Cheers,

from all the logs that I take I cant seem to find the exact time where it shuts down, but I'm not exactly sure where to look since I've only been using Linux for about half a year.

as far as I can tell it's something to do with this section of the logs

Re: [solved] network connection issues

Jun 30 21:40:45 archlinux wpa_supplicant[569]: wlan0: SME: Trying to authenticate with 7c:5e:98:cf:3c:e6 (SSID='Rulongia' freq=5580 MHz)
Jun 30 21:40:45 archlinux kernel: wlan0: disconnect from AP 7c:5e:98:ce:83:e6 for new auth to 7c:5e:98:cf:3c:e6
Jun 30 21:40:46 archlinux kernel: wlan0: authenticate with 7c:5e:98:cf:3c:e6 (local address=c0:e4:34:9d:2d:81)

Most likely roaming, probably between 5GHz and 2.4GHz, but the snippets are too short to tell (please also do not copy and paste the journal out of the pager since you'll introduce either truncated lines or wrapping (making it a PITA to read that stuff tongue)
You can lock the BSSID, https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Networ … ts_(Wi-Fi) and both wpa_supplicant and iwd allow you to control the roaming threshold (you seem to veer around -60dBm)

I locked the BSSID and I will let you know if I have the issue again. if I don't have the issue today I'll assume that the issue is fixed and mark the thread as solved
