Logitech Extreme 3D Pro functionality via Proton/Wine/GE?

Hey guys. I've been into space flight sims recently, and am looking to get into dedicated controls on a budget.
Does anyone know if (or how) the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro will work when using any flavor of Wine? My game of choice as of now is Elite Dangerous, but that's subject to change of course.

I do own such a joystick and there are issues with wine 7 and later.
They are likely to occur only with applications using older directX versions like X-wing alliance. Whether ED will be affected is unknown to me.
