[WORKROUND]Unable to create keyring with seahorse

I installed arch off USB with: archinstall.  After updating with:

sudo pacman -Syu

I installed gnome and gnome-extras using pacman.

I am manually starting Wayland with:

XDG_SESSION_TYPE=wayland dbus-run-session gnome-session

I have added the required pam_gnome_keyring lines to /etc/pam.d/login per https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/GNOME/Keyring

/home/<me>/.local/share/keyrings is 0700 permissions, and empty

ps aux shows gnome-keyring-deamon running with pkcs11,secrets components (and runs at console login).

seahorse shows only Keys (GnuPG keys and OpenSSH keys), Certificats (Default Trust).  Clicking the + I can only add:
Secure Shell key
GPG key
Private key
Import from file

Are there any other steps I'm missing to get this working?  Thank you.

Well...it appears that enabling gdm service, which, honestly I was probably going to do anyway makes the keyring work.  Shouldn't have to, but there it is.  Going to mark this as workaround.
