Okay, I've been slowly solving my problems...but here's one that's beyond me
mozilla-firefox takes a really long time to start up from the command "mozilla-firefox" when issued as user
Also, when going to web sites I get long "resolving www.archlinux.org" times. Once it finds the site, everything seems fine.
Any suggestions, I'm at my wits end
Thanks

You don't have your local hostname set up properly in /etc/fstab.

huh? Since when does fstab have a hostname...
Do you mean /etc/rc.conf?

Gah! /etc/hosts! /etc/hosts! not /etc/fstab.

Thanks for the replys, a noob needs all the help he can get!
My /etc/hosts goes like this
127.0.0.1 localhost
Is this correct? I'm running dhcp, so should I have some line in there about my hostname?
Thanks in advance.

p.s. Read over in linuxquestions.org that having IPV-6 enabled could be slowing down the web surfing (giving long "resolving host www.yahoo" times), any idea how to disable it?

actually, your etc/hosts should look like:
127.0.0.1 YOURCOMPUTERNAMEHERE localhost
Hope this helps.
