I have a Lenovo Ideapad 5 14ARE05
With these specs:
Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 4700U with Radeon Graphics × 8
Mem: 16GB RAM
Graphics Card: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Renoir [Radeon RX Vega 6 (Ryzen 4000/5000 Mobile Series)]
Hard drive: 1000.2 GB [KINGSTON SNVS1000G (S8B40103)]
I'm running:
Arch Linux
GNome: 48
Kernel: Linux 6.15.6-arch1-1
Windowing System: Wayland
This is my first time running Arch. I'm a long time LinuxMint user.
I moved to Arch 'cause I saw that my issue on Mint about my laptop not being able to stay in "suspended" mode could be solved in Arch due to having a more newer kernel.
I checked this solution but I found my acpi table was already patched which makes sense since I'm on a much newer kernel.
Probably I'm too noob to find why it is not working o it is just my laptop not fully supporting suspend.
Anyway any help is appreciated and thanks in advance for you time.
UPDATE:
After a few days of testing various solutions — and exchanging tons of messages with ChatGPT and Gemini — I ended up doing something a bit strange and counterintuitive. I followed the advice in this wiki post… but did the opposite.
Instead of setting "S3/Modern Standby Support" to S3, like I had done (and tested) multiple times before, I changed it to Modern Standby Support.
After leaving the laptop suspended over the entire weekend, the battery only dropped by less than 45%, and according to the logs it entered an s2idle sleep mode. It’s not S3 deep sleep, but honestly, it’s good enough for me.
