Hi!
I had an issue after upgrading my arch this morning, current state is:
10:55:08 akostic@akosticT14s ~ → systemctl --version
systemd 257 (257.2-2-arch)
+PAM +AUDIT -SELINUX -APPARMOR -IMA +IPE +SMACK +SECCOMP +GCRYPT +GNUTLS +OPENSSL +ACL +BLKID +CURL +ELFUTILS +FIDO2 +IDN2 -IDN +IPTC +KMOD +LIBCRYPTSETUP +LIBCRYPTSETUP_PLUGINS +LIBFDISK +PCRE2 +PWQUALITY +P11KIT +QRENCODE +TPM2 +BZIP2 +LZ4 +XZ +ZLIB +ZSTD +BPF_FRAMEWORK +BTF +XKBCOMMON +UTMP -SYSVINIT +LIBARCHIVE
10:57:15 akostic@akosticT14s ~ → uname -r
6.12.9-arch1-1
And it seems it had issues with the fontconfig, which resulted in my terminal fonts and tray-icons completely misbehaving. Apparently everything was defaulting to a Noto-Sans font family for some reason. I had to downgrade my fontconfig package from the cache to fontconfig-2\:2.15.0-2-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst in order to make it work again properly. Anyone else noticed that too?

The current fontconfig version is 2:2.15.0-2. What did you upgrade to and where did you get if from? Even upstream only has v2.15 tarballs

There recently was a reported issue that sounds slightly different but also is about font rendering: https://gitlab.archlinux.org/archlinux/ … -/issues/1
There the fix was to regenerate the font config cache

@gromit fc-cache -f This doesn't work. I've also reinstalled pango and still get the error

The thread is from half a year ago, it's unlikely you're facing https://gitlab.archlinux.org/archlinux/ … -/issues/1
There was more recently https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=306612 but even that is no longer the case, so maybe elaborate on your situation.
