I installed Arch linux on my primary desktop. I also saw that there was a new bios update for my Asus X670E Extreme board which is 3112.
After updating to that, I can no longer boot into arch linux. its stuck at the screen where it shows "Loading initial ramdisk".
I did try booting off the Arch linux USB drive but all I get is a black screen.
the only thing I could probably do is edit the boot parameters. Like I am at the screen where it shows arch linux as a boot option and if I press E I can edit that particular boot menu setting.

Did you try and roll back firmware. The x670e Extreme is very particular with firmware. When I update my Extreme I have to go into bios and choose the boot device then all is well.

I rolled back to 3104 and I am still getting the same results. Last firmware I was on before all this trouble started was 2806. im going to try going back one bios at a time. curious, but what bios are you using on your X670E Extreme?
Makes me wonder if donating hardware to the arch developers would be helpful. I did it before for embedded linux firmware devs like dd-wrt and OpenWRT before.

Currently on 2704. I only update if I'm having an issue or a new feature becomes available that I need. Just keep in mind, all settings get reset on a bios update... So make sure you confirm all your settings. On the OLED above the first GPU slot what does it say when you are stuck at loading initial ram disk?

when it gets stuck on "loading initial ramdisk", the oled is acting like the OS is already booted. like its cycling in a way where it shows you the voltages and temperatures as if your already using the computer
Anyway, found that the latest update I can go to is 3003 last night after doing some testing. So im on that right now. something definitely happened after 3104. I wish I could report this to asus or if a arch linux dev could look into it.
I mean I just wanted to take advantage of the X3d stuff in my processor with the latest update. but ill stick to 3003 for now if I have to.

It would be an Asus thing. There is a x670 thread over on Asus website but since there is a new Extreme x870e out I don't know if Asus will actually work through the issue on the x670e. Good luck, glad you were able to find a firmware that works
