Hi all, first time posting here.
I'm running Arch with KDE plasma on a framework laptop. My printer is a Epson WF-2680 which I connect to using wifi. I've been trying to connect to the printer by doing the following...
- Installing cups.
- Enabling cups.
- Making sure my user is part of lp group.
- Installing 'epson-inkjet-printer-escpr2' from the AUR (of which my printer is listed in the documentation).
I've tried setting up my printer in both the cups web ui and kde. Both give the same result where...
- It detects the printer.
- Driver is selected and installed.
The weird thing is that the print jobs are just instantly dropped. It doesnt matter if its a test page from cups web ui, kde, or libre office. Pausing the printer stops the jobs from being instantly dropped and I found that its always printing '0 pages'. I've tried multi-page documents, but it still always says 0 pages in the print manager. The weird thing is that I'm not getting any errors. It always says the print was successful. The printer doesnt even wake up from standby.
I've tried reinstalling cups and the drivers several times. I know its not the printer because it works when using windows and linux mint.
Anyone else had similar issues and knows of a solution? Thank you in advance.

Check/post the CUPS debug log, is cups-filters installed?

Have you tried using AirPrint or IPPEverywhere as alternative setup instead of the native hardware driver? I say this because I ran into a similar problem and what I did instead was to uninstall my driver, setup Avahi and setup Cups to use IPPEverywhere and got my printer working.
Have a look: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/CUPS
