NVIDIA driver blocking reboot

Hello friends,

I've had a problem with reboots on my machine for quite a while. It works fine during install until adding the NVIDIA driver for my card, then reboots get stuck at some point after the journal has finished.
I'm not quite sure how to debug this, since the journal does not show anything and says that the system reboot target was reached successfully and then gets stopped.
I've tested it with a NixOS installation and Windows confirming its Linux related. Shutdowns work fine, it just affects reboots for some reason.

Any idea how to debug this?

It's not overly likely that this is caused by the nvidia driver, except *MAYBE* if this is an optimus system and the card is trapped in RTD3

I've tested it with a NixOS installation and Windows confirming its Linux related.

Does this mean
1. NixOS is affected as well (it is linux after all)?
2. There's a parallel windows installation? (Cause then there's a very likely cause of this: 3rd link below. Mandatory.
Disable it (it's NOT the BIOS setting!) and reboot windows and linux twice for voodo reasons)

Do you have the journal from such failed reboot?

Yes, NixOS is affected as well, same story there, once the NVIDIA drivers are installed and the card is used, no reboots anymore.
There is a Windows installation, but on a different drive and it has not been used in quite a while. Fastboot is disabled, and I have reason to believe it has nothing to do with Windows, as the reboots work fine before using anything GPU related.

Both is irrelevant, the problem is w/ the ACPI, not some disk.

Fastboot is disabled

How do you know if windows hasn't been used in quite a while?
1. MS frequently re-enables the feature w/ OS updates
2. nb. the terminology: it is NOT "fastboot" (feature commonly found in BIOS/UEFI and entirely irrelevant here) but "fast start" (fake shutdown) which is a windows setting.

(The module also has an option to power off instead of resetting, but you would not want that to happen mid-session - so we just try w/o first)
