Which configuration file does XFree86 4.4 use in /etc/X11?
XF86Config or XF86Config-4.hwd
I've both on my system and I have been running Version 4.3 and now 4.4 and acording to documentation the config file should be called XF86Config-4
This leaves me perplexed so any help in this would be appreciated.
p.s. using Nvidia Driver
and also whilst I'm at it what do I need to add to my Hosts file to shutup the nagging Gnome Screen Saver on log-ins?
Thanks in advance.

It is XF86Config-4.
XF86Config-4.hwd is a DRAFT created by hwd.
XFree86 will never use this one, until you rename it.
XF86Config is the default file written by xf86cfg.
If available, XFree86 uses XF86Config-4, if not, it will try XF86Config then.

That helps a lot. Must cleanup and experimnt with XF86Config-4 and then clean up the X11 folder. Wasn't sure of the .hwd extension and if it was being used cause I didn't know of the extension but I did know of XF86Config-4 hence the confusion.

You need to be sure the loop back device is up and "127.0.0.1 localhost" is in the /etc/hosts file.
