SDDM blacks out after entering correct password

I am using hyprland, and having issue described here https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=230361 . The issue is,  after successfully entering my password, the screen goes black briefly, and then returns me to the SDDM login prompt. I can still use tty3, and get to hyprland via $/bin/hyprland.

i think i have tried everything mentioned in topic linked above. I am new to linux, love tinkering with everything that can be tinkered with, and probably broke the thing myself.

if anything else is needed ask me please, i dont know anything about what am i doing.

Re: SDDM blacks out after entering correct password

Hi BurningWolf,

If you're not from the US or not using a US keyboard layout, it could be the classic case where SDDM is set to a US layout, causing your password to fail when typed with your keyboard.

You can check if that's the case by typing your password in plain text in the username field for example.

Re: SDDM blacks out after entering correct password

Sorry, i should have stated that on incorrect password it does nothing. Its only when i type the right password that it blacks out.
Yes, i am using both US and RU layouts, but that does not matter here. Furthermore i have set RU language only in hyprland.
Thank you for a reply, but that was not the issue.

The described symptom mean that hyprland crashes - check your system journal and https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Core_d … _core_dump
It's likely gonna leave a trace.
