Great work guys

Really love the new design and snappiness. And from what I read in this thread so do the others
About that bug above, get it to. ( Win32, Opera 9.10 )

Other than that, I have not seen any flaws yet.

PhpBB, for whatever reason, didnt check to make sure all the quote tags came in pairs, and the conversion process didn't either, so the formatting was messed up. I silently edited the post that was messed up to fix the tag.

If you see any more of those, go ahead and hit report and specify it in the reason, there shouldn't be too many of them around.

This is great, I can read the forums A LOT faster now; even on dial-up. I greatly appreciate the new feature that allows me to hide images, (in all three locations, if I so choose.) It's very nice... goodbye temporary use of ImageLikeOpera.

One thing I do miss, is a forum by forum option to "Mark all topics as read". One other thing; actually I'm not sure if the old forum had it, but I know another phpBB forum I used to frequent had it; but it's a preview option on the quick reply. I think it would be real nice if it would have one.

Also, the forum is slightly more readable in elinks (the threads. navigation is a little tight, but manageable.)

Is it possible to have more than "recent posts" links? Does this link show last 24h or only posts from today?
The links to view last 24h, 48h etc. were quite useful sometimes.

hmmm, everything seems kinda ass-backwards with this setup. Recent posts require multiple clicks, index forums at the bottom. Maybe a switch to phpbb would have been wiser.....

I dunknow, I know it'll take time to adjust, but I think there's a reason I run a forum and have never heard of punbb. Not complaining, just stating an opinion here.

In either case, it's no doubt more responsive than before.

We were thinking about a switch to phpBB but thought it would be too much of a hassle for the transfer. Maybe next time.

We didn't switched to phpbb because that what we were using. The forum software move was from phpbb to punbb.

I like the new look, very clean and responsive. I think the "new posts" link by each individual forum post is an added feature. In any event, it's very convenient. I know it's been mentioned before, but, a quick search box would be nice. A smooth transition, impressive.

Hmmmmmmmmm I swore the old software was vBulletin, I must have been on crack. I need to stop that stuff haha In either case, yeah. The changes are nice, faster, and went smoothly, but I don't know if punbb is really setup with the end user in mind. Certain things seem hidden or a pain to access, just the general deisign of things I think needs some improvement, then again that's just an end user's opinion From one forum admin to a group of admins

Ahh, my avatar shrunk, now you can't see my Arch customized license plate…

Am I doing something wrong, [ New Posts ] works, but once I've read the new posts, it stays new. I can scan all the way through the forums from top to bottom, but when I start back at the top, they are all still the same as when I started, new posts or not. (That is, new posts or not on the ones already marked as new.)

Is there any way to mark a thread as read, so that I can tell if it really does get some new posts or not?

I realize I can log out and back in, but then I loose even the new posts that I don't know are there because I can't tell which threads have new posts or not now.

Read flagging is now time-based. There's a link to mark all posts as read. Read the link cactus posted in this thread for more info.

Ok, sounds good. Having the read flagging time-based just doesn't seam very practical for forums as active as Archlinux is. But after reading the post noted by cactus, punBB looks like it's a lot easier to modify and patch then phpBB was. So I'll work with it the way it is, and look forward to it maturing even more.

I don't know, I've been using phpBB successfully for over 4 years now...on many different forums.

Don't think punbb is perfect, it isn't, and it lacks many features that I prefer to use. Until very recently punbb was developed by pretty much just one person. He has made some mistakes, but in his defense, he owns up to them. Recently he opened up punbb to more developers, 6 or 7 i think, phpbb has many more people that scrutinize the codebase. phpBB is a very widely used gpl'd forum software, so it gets the most publicity. You also have more people writing automated attack scripts for it, but that is easy enough to overcome.

phpBB is scaleable and modifiable ....... The largest phpBB forum I know of is:
